The door locking mechanism is noisy, which creates a noisy atmosphere in the hallway and rooms. The sign to the property could be better, making it a bit difficult to find at night.

The owner, Olga, was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The kitchen and dining area were well-equipped and separate from the rooms, ensuring a restful stay. The location was also beautiful, with stunning natural areas nearby.

This was my first time staying in a guesthouse with shared facilities, and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Dettifoss Guesthouse. The rooms had a modern design and were very nice, with one of them even having a sink. The bathrooms were plentiful, so I never had to wait for one to become available. Despite needing to rent three rooms for my family, the price was still comparable to other places we stayed in Iceland. The shared kitchen, although a bit crowded at times, was manageable. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everyone staying at the guesthouse was courteous. Olga, the host, was also very helpful and provided us with useful information about road conditions and closures.
